This garden was redesigned to make best use of the space. Large shrubs originally narrowed the entrance to the garden creating just a walkway that led to paved area with no interest. The clients wanted a garden for socialising with a built in BBQ area and fridge, a table and chairs for dining, a large seated area postioned for the afternoon sun, a small lawn for little feet and to hide the garden shed.
Removal of the shrubs allowed for a dining area that was in turn extended into the main garden area. Stainless steel wiring attached to wood posts provided privacy and allowed lighting to hung overhead. In time evergreen scented climbers will scramble along the wires. The BBQ worktop partitions the two spaces and allows for food to be served driectly to diners.
In the main section of the garden we created a bespoke L-shaped bench built within the raised bed. Large shrubs give privacy without taking any of the afternoon sun. Posts and wires were repeated allowing climbers to hide the shed behind. A feature Olive tree opposite the raised bed brings height and balance and also helps partition the lawn area beyond.
